I missed having a blog.

I mean, I still have Effectivism. If you count a website that updates roughly 2x a year (and mostly in a state of panic whenever it’s year-end donation time again) as a blog. And I still have a fandom tumblr (if you count a blog that is mostly reblogs about a very quirky set of obsessions). But I have not had a place to share embarrassing stories and such with my friends in far too long. So I’m gonna try this.

I thought hard about how to have a blog. I thought about doing a TinyLetter, and I thought about reviving my Dreamwidth, and I thought about using Medium, and I thought about setting up a highly customizable blog on my own (*cough* a friend’s *cough*) server. I pondered software features and predicted platform longevity, and also the intricacies of content distribution in an age of social media fragmentation. In this fashion, I worked hard on my blog-to-be for several months.

I now find myself with substantial time on my hands, a desire for distraction, and a wish to be in better contact with friends. So fuck thinking — it’s time to blog. 🙂
